ABOUT ME

I have been an artist and art instructor for almost three decades, and hold a BFA from Parsons and an MFA in Fine Arts. I am an avid traveler and have practiced and studied art around the world, including having lived abroad in Greece, Hong Kong, London, and Paris.

I experience life as a complex balancing act of several roles: self, mother, partner, worker, and artist, all needing space to be the best they can be. I believe that everyone is creative and that sometimes these natural creativities get bogged down with life’s demands. However, with a little help, our creative impulses can blossom, and we can find a path to express ourselves.

My work explores the process of transformation within the unseen, complex map of subjective reality and emotion. The principles of personal transformation are integral to life, such that our identities are in a constant state of flux. Particularly, I am intrigued by the way women transform through their lived experiences, changing and evolving within the push-pull of contemporary issues and stresses. My artistic practice occurs as a byproduct of this examination.

Creation is a balancing act of contradictory materials and elements such that they can co-exist in an interesting visual way. It’s a perpetual attempt to harness spontaneous, organic, free-flowing movement and emotional releases. Creation is navigating the boundaries between calm and chaos, exposing the layers of the transformative experience.

My joy, in teaching, is in sharing and connecting with others—exploring our lived experiences through the process of creation.
